  • Citrus plants like lemon, lime, and orange trees can contribute to backyard mosquito control with their strong fragrance. Mosquitoes don't like citrus plants because they contain a compound called limonene, which is found in their peels and gives them their citrusy aroma.

  • Removing standing water is the most effective DIY solution, as it reduces the amount of breeding sites for mosquitoes. Mosquitoes can breed in as little as a spoonful of water, so be sure to empty any flower pots, buckets, and gutters.

Although these are all great options to help repel mosquitoes from your yard naturally, it’s important to note that these solutions will not completely eliminate mosquitoes from your yard.
